Formed in 1971 by Pipe Major William Micenko, the Tacoma Scots bring the thrilling sound of the Great Highland Bagpipe and the rich cultural heritage of Scotland together. Today, the Tacoma Scots’ members carry the music, dance and history of their Scottish ancestors, both real and adopted, into the community through their high quality performances in a wide variety of venues.
The Ancient Sinclair tartan and the Cock of the North crest are worn proudly to honor their founder, the late Pipe Major William (Bill) Micenko.
The Tacoma Scots are a family oriented band that can be seen throughout the Pacific Northwest. They have earned the distinction as the ‘Official Pipe Band of the Pierce County Sheriff’.
